During the craziness of last year, just before we packed up our house in Dubai I saw an advert on Facebook looking for volunteers for Channel 4's A new life in the sun, a programme which I have always been guilty of binge watching. Yes it may have been on a Saturday night and yes may have had a couple of glasses of wine and I obviouslyI thought it was a marvellous idea! So whilst Brian was asleep my keyboard fingers set to action and I emailed the address given with our story. Next morning I happened to drop it into our conversation that I may have just applied to be in the series, we did not think for one minute anything would become of it, I mean why would A New life in the sun feature a family who have pretty much spent most of their life in the sun!! Oh how wrong could we be....in the space of one week we were asked for more details of our French house and of the planned projects with photos of both the house and ourselves (I have a face more suited for radio!) ....a few days later we had a casting video call and then received the news that we had been accepted for series 8 of a New Life in the Sun with the first shoot scheduled for end of April.
On 31st March 2022 our family home in Dubai was packed up and 26 years of Middle Eastern life was now heading to the port of Jebel Ali to be shipped to France . The shipping agent told us it would arrive at Le Coussol Haut in around 12-14 weeks.....or so they said. This was ideal as we were not in a hurry for it and had lots of work/preparation to do before its arrival.
